The Vancouver 2010 Olympic Torch Relay will be showcased in more than 1,000 communities across Canada. The Town of Banff will welcome the Olympic Torch on January 20, 2010 and hosting an evening celebration unlike any other in Canada to mark the occasion. It was just announced that the internationally renowned quartet The Canadian Tenors will be performing at the two-hour outdoor celebration, their only appearance at an Olympic Torch event.
"The Canadian Tenors have performed at amazing venues around the world, but it will be a first for us to perform with the snow-capped peaks of the Canadian Rockies as our backdrop" said Max Kubiak, from the management of The Canadian Tenors with Jeffrey Latimer Entertainment. "Olympic athletes have been born, raised and have trained in Banff National Park. It is very exciting that the Olympic torch will be coming to Banff considering the importance of our Olympic legacy" said Julie Canning, president and CEO of Banff Lake Louise Tourism.
The Olympic Torch Celebration is a free event that will take place in downtown Banff. The arrival of the torch and the festival atmosphere will allow everyone in attendance with a personal opportunity to share in the Olympic experience and spirit of the Games.
