Summer BBQ at Cascade Ponds
The hotel had our annual Staff Summer BBQ on Tuesday at Cascade Ponds. Located off the Lake Minnwanka Road, Cascade Ponds is an open area around a large man-made pond with islands. There are shelters, picnic tables and fireboxes that make the area an ideal place to relax and have a picnic on a summer afternoon!
We played lots of different games, including the all time favourite "toss the water balloon!" A few of us got a little bit wet during this one :)
To get to Cascade Ponds, turn off the Lake Minnewanka Road onto the first gravel road north of the Trans-Canada overpass. A 2.5 km trail runs north to join the Bankhead Interpretive Trail. A short, steep trail climbs the hill behind the ponds to a viewpoint at the power line and continues on to Johnson Lake. Cascade Mountain is visible everywhere.
